use fashion wisely

Fashion is a delicious guilty pleasure of mine
Why? Because I quietly loath and mock those who simply 'tries' to hard to be fashionable, spending and wasting money more money trying their best to look like stars. Get real. You will never ever be able to look like Kate Moss, Cory Kennedy or today's most in-demand models (Gemma, Stam, Hilary, Agyness.... the list goes on).

One thing my Ibu always say is that you can always buy fashion but you can't always buy your body (Ha! This almost beat YSL's famous 'fashion fades, style eternal' quote). That's probably why Ibu always stresses to us (her distressed daughters) that taking care of our body is far more important. E
xercise, eat and groom well! She would rather prefer spending extra money to buy better skincare than buying luxury handbags (still way more affordable than one of those icky LV monograms). This, according to her (to which I agree) is because someone who is healthy and has a good physique will look good in anything they wear. I really do agree with this.

I mean, who are they kidding? Wasting your money to be ridiculously fashionable will NOT get you to look the least like any of those models I mentioned. They looked good in what they are wearing because they probably look good naked! Hence, guaranteeing them to look good in anything the designer decides to throw at them! I really believe what my mom taught me. What's important is that you yourself (divorced of any attachment with what you are wearing) look good, clean and...hygienic. I notice this a lot especially when I see people walking down the street. If you compare a fit-looking girl with that healthy glow in her face wearing only a simple white tee and jeans with another girl in the trendiest high waisted jeans, vintage whatever attributes (and that god forsaken keffiyah I wish to burn) smoking a cig with dark circles under her eyes, which girl would you rather be? Forgive me for notoriously stereotyping people, but that is the
current trend. That...'heroin' chic.

I must say that the image of the cool 'heroin' chic looks great...on picture, on fashion editorial photo shoot. I think the uprise of the cool 'heroin' chic girls gave a misleading representation that it would look good anywhere, but to me they just look.. unhygienic. Not sexy...trying-to hard to be fashionable? Yes... but not sexy. I mean, I don't think guys even care about how styl
ish a girl is (If he cares to much, MUST-DOUBLE-CHECK-SEXUALITY).

This is all the almighty power of the mediaaaa!!!! Especially at this time and age where almost all of us are celebrity obsessed. We want to know them and we want to be like them (hell the rise of shows that gave instant fame *coughs* reality tv *coughs is a major proof!) At the end of the day, not everyone can update their wardrobe to look like their desired idol bec
ause fashion comes and go. Very quickly too. So, to combine my mom's quote and Yves Saint Laurent's... the ultimate solution in looking good is to keep your style and take good care of your body. That way, you'll look good in anything you wear!

That being said, Fashion is still a guilty pleasure of mine! NO, I do not update my wardrobe every season or go to every freakin Jeans designer sale or wear sooo many clothing attributes that my clothes seem to be wearing me and not the other way around. I wear comfortable clothing that screams... ME!

Hahaha.... Still, it doesn't hurt to look at cool outfit from the Spring 2008 Runway. I mean, these clothing will soon be the trend setter and will influence the way those people on the streets update their glorious walk-in wardrobe! It could be the new 'it' colors, or the new shape or whatever. It's just amazing and hillarious to see the domino effect! It's like a few months after Gucci's Spring 2007 collection was shown, every boutiques and stores in Sydney practically has that black, purple, bright yellow and orange colours on their products. Even that swirly pattern! Anyway, here goes some of my favourites!

This is from Nina Ricci. I love the color and the willowy nature of the dress. Oh, and that brown gloves is just cool! I just realized that this was designed by Olivier Theyskens who did cute almost gothic dresses for Rochas a few seasons back!

This one is from Proenza Schouler and I've always loved their ready to wear clothes. I told Tizka that if I somehow produce money like that guy Primus produce sweat, I would definitely buy her this entire outfit and make her the most fashionable junior accountant at her office.

This last one is from L'Wren Scott! Love the coat, love the coat, love the coat.

HOAHEM..... I'm ngantuk! So yeah: love fashion! Just don't be its slave and please stop wearing those keffiyah scarves. God If I can Katon Goukakyu no Jutsu them straightaway...which btw... leads me to think that one of those purple rope belt thingy that Sasuke and the rest of the Sound Ninja wore can actually look cool (albeit way smaller!) I'll post the picture of it some time. Good night sweeties!
